App Quits on Window Close

When I close the app window, it quits and stops all of my services. I would expect that if I close the window, the app will still be running in the background, I just don't want to see the config UI.

I am running MacOS Ventura 13.5.

Hi @joeworkman — thanks for your post! A similar request was made previously and I guess I still feel the same way about it, although by no means dogmatically. Just curious, which other apps do you usually have running but with no window open? Do they just open their main window again when you re-activate the app?

Music, Keyboard Maestro, Better Touch Tool, Hazel, I could literally list out at least 20 more. Indigo is not an app you use. The UI is purely for configuration. Once my server is running, I expect it to run in the background while I do my development work. When I am done, I would open the UI window back up and stop it. Or quit the app if I was completely done.

It's like the Music app. How annoying would it be if it quit when I closed the window? I don't need the window open to listen to the music. I don't need the Indigo app open whiles it's serving up my web server.

joeworkman I 100% agree with this. Should be able to close it and have just a menu bar icon to access it.

I've put this request on my todo list; I think it can be handled nicely, but I also think it does go hand-in-hand with a menubar item as has been suggested. It's also not as trivial as it may sound, as there is a lot of code that will assume the existence of a main window. Still, should not be a problem 🙂

But also an option for it to leave it in the dock, just window closed. +++ for that
