Apple silicon support coming soon?

I'm an Indigo Pro user, and I've been getting this notification every few weeks for the past few months:

Are we going to get an update for Indigo Pro for Apple silicon before support for Rosetta ends? I really like Indigo, and I'd rather not be forced to switch to a lesser alternative.

Hi @hot_pastrami_ — thanks for your report, and apologies for the annoyance.

To answer your question: absolutely, yes! Indigo v2 is nearing release, and I’m really excited to get it into everyone’s hands. It’s a huge update, and one of the changes is that it will be a native Apple Silicon app.

Apple’s recent Rosetta notifications have unfortunately made this a bit confusing. They’re appearing even though Indigo continues to run perfectly well today, which understandably makes it look like something is wrong when it isn’t.

For anyone still using an Intel Mac, don’t worry — Indigo v1.x will continue to run on x86 as it always has. The Apple Silicon-only change applies to the new v2 release.

Thanks for the update! No annoyance, just hoping that future annoyance does not occur (i.e., MacOS stops supporting the app before the silicon version is ready). Sounds like you're on top of it, which is reassuring.

So MacOS 27 is out now and I was on a version lower that MacOS 26, meaning I did not get a warning that Apple Silicon is not supported. Any updates on when support will be here?

Unfortunately macOS 27 removes Rosetta—even from Macs that already had it. And Indigo’s services currently rely on Rosetta to run on Apple-silicon Macs.

Fortunately, the fix is easy! Just run the following command in your terminal:

softwareupdate --install-rosetta --agree-to-license

This will reinstall Rosetta and Indigo will run happily as before.
